Serbian, Slovenian police cooperate successfully

First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Ivica Dacic said last night that the Serbian and Slovenian police had successfully cooperated in their recent fights against the illegal drug trade, organised crime, illegal migration and human trafficking.

Following a meeting with Slovenian Minister of Interior Dragutin Mateo, Dacic stressed that in the upcoming period the two countries are to pay attention to twin threats of organised crime and terrorism.
Serbia and Slovenia, to a lesser extent, are transit countries for trafficking in people and narcotics, and sometimes even for international terrorism, which is why the police forces from both countries must cooperate, said Dacic.
He stressed that the Serbian Ministry of Interior has signed bilateral agreements on cooperation with police forces from several regional countries.
According to Dacic, the Serbian and Slovenian police have had a number of joint training sessions and now that Serbia is getting ready for the Schengen “white list”, it needs to learn from the experiences of countries that have already finished with the visa liberalisation procedure.
He said that his Slovenian counterpart voiced Slovenia’s clear support for EU’s visa liberalisation toward Serbia, as well as for Serbia’s EU accession.
Yesterday in Brdo pri Kranju began a two-day ministerial conference on illegal migrations, organised crime, corruption and terrorism.
The conference aims at strengthening the cooperation between interior ministries of central and south east Europe in the prevention and suppression of all kinds of organised crime and terrorism.
