UN General Assembly vote – great victory of international law

First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Ivica Dacic said tonight that the adoption of the resolution at the UN General Assembly is Serbia’s huge diplomatic victory and a triumph of international law.
In a statement to the Tanjug news agency, Dacic said it has thus been proved that a majority of countries is committed to the respect of international law and that the issue of Kosovo-Metohija will now be transferred from the political to the legal remit.
According to him, if the International Court of Justice abides by the founding principles of international law, Serbia can hope for the court’s positive opinion.
This will no doubt stall the recognition process of the province’s independence, said Dacic and added that once again it has been shown that good political judgement and good diplomacy are a mighty weapon.
