In a statement to the FoNet news agency, Djelic said that Serbia is the only non-EU country invited to attend the conference which will deal with problems of over 12 million people.
Serbia, who is currently presiding over the Decade of the Roma, has the opportunity to solve its own problems in this domain and thus help to solve the issue properly in all of Europe, sad Djelic.
We have four priorities for this year of our presidency, and these are to resolve the housing issue, suppress all kinds of discrimination in education, form a new European policy and improve the statistical knowledge of the issue, he specified.
Djelic recalled that around 450,000 Roma live in Serbia, whereas in Europe the Roma population numbers 10–12 million.
