Presentation of Serbia’s car industry investment potentials to “Daimler” representatives

Belgrade/Stuttgart, Sept 15, 2008- Serbian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy and Regional Development Mladjan Dinkic visited today, as a part of his working visit to Germany, the Daimler company and talked to President and Chief Executive of the company Joachim Schmidt.
The Ministry of Economy and Regional Development stated that Dinkic said after the meeting that Serbia’s investment opportunities were presented to “Daimler” representatives.
He noted that Serbia generated more than €1 billion in profit from the export of motor-car parts, and by signing an agreement with Fiat our country will also begin exporting readymade cars.
Since “Mercedes” decided earlier to manufacture cars in Kecskemet in Hungary which is close to our border, we reached an agreement that the “Mercedes” suppliers’ seminar will be held in Subotica, where investment opportunities for the production of motor-car parts in Vojvodina will be presented, the Prime Minister stressed.
He said that Mercedes made an offer to organise together with universities in Serbia a specific academy devoted to the development of the car industry in Serbia, where they would train our engineers and in practical conditions make them capable for the future development of car industry.
The “Mercedes” initiative was also supported by the President of Baden-Wurttemberg, Guenther H. Oettinger, said the statement and adds that this is one of the economically most powerful and largest provinces in Germany and the centre not only of the German but the European car industry.
