Speaking at the ceremony which took place at Belgrade City Assembly, Djelic wished the students a pleasant journey and recommended to them to visit as many cities in the EU and meet as many people as possible.
The Deputy Prime Minister said that he hopes that students participating in this programme next year will be able to travel without a visa.
The project provides students with an opportunity to get to know main European cities, life and standards of EU countries as well as their national cultures. The programme was initiated to make it possible for young students to travel who have never travelled before due to socio-political conditions.
Free of charge Schengen visas were provided by the Austrian embassy, valid for one month, and the students will return to Serbia on August 15.
The project is being implemented for the fourth time. The first time, in 2005, 100 students travelled to Europe, a year later 200, and last year 300 of Serbia’s best students got the opportunity to travel.
This year as well the students will take with them brochures titled “Warmly – Serbia” which they will distribute at the main squares in European cities. The students will promote Serbian culture, values and traditions in major European cities.
