Serbian Deputy Prime Minister for European Integration and Minister of Science and Technological Development Bozidar Djelic expressed condolences to the Polish government and European Parliament on the death of European Parliament member and former Polish foreign minister Bronislaw Geremek.

Geremek was a Polish social historian and politician.
Geremek was as one of the leaders of the round-table negotiations that helped pave the way for elections in 1989 that eventually brought the Solidarity movement to power, initiating a peaceful end to Communist control of Poland.
As of 2004, Geremek was an MEP at the European Parliament.
He died in a car crash on July 13 in Lubień, close to Nowy Tomyśl, Poland, at age 76.
