Dacic, who together with Polish Ambassador to Serbia Maciej Szymański visited the injured at the Novi Sad Emergency Centre, told the press that it is still early to speak about the cause of the accident, but added that it was probably caused by a subjective factor, that is, human error.
He reiterated that he will propose that the Bill on traffic safety, which has been waiting for adoption for three years now, be returned to parliamentary procedure.
According to him, the Bill has already passed pre-parliamentary procedure and should be debated in autumn.
Dacic warned all participants in traffic to adhere to regulations and announced that due to the increased number of accidents,
in the next several days traffic police will carry out more thorough control on all routes.
Dacic thanked doctors in Novi Sad for their speedy reaction with which they managed to prevent the tragedy from becoming even more serious. He added that Polish citizens were also killed in the accident and that the Serbian government is ready to provide all assistance which is deemed necessary.
He invited authorities in the province and the City of Novi Sad to help find accommodation for the families of the injured and deceased who come to the city.
Szymański thanked everyone for their help, especially the doctors in Novi Sad and other towns where the injured are hospitalised, and representatives of authorities who are trying to help the injured.
He also said he is grateful to citizens who showed willingness to donate blood or help in other ways to alleviate the consequences of the accident.
