Djelic said that the aim in the next four-year term is to triple the funds for science from the budgets of the state, Vojvodina, city of Belgrade and local self-governments.
He explained that the aim is to reach 1% of GDP allocated for science, which would partly be financed from private funds and from the EU budget.
According to him, priorities will be science networking in international trends and stronger ties between technology and the economy.
He announced meetings with the Council for Scientific and Technological Development, representatives of institutes and the economy as well as with former ministers so they could give their proposals in defining priorities.
He said that there are plans for a centre for science, technology and innovation to be opened by the end of the present government’s term in office.
According to Djelic, it has been decided that the Ministry of Science and Technological Development should be moved from the building in Nemanjina Street where it is currently located to the corner between Svetozara Markovica Street and Krunska, to the former military court building.
Pesikan, who will be Djelic’s advisor, said that she expects the new Minister of Science and Technological Development to contribute to the development of this sector with his political authority.
Djelic and Pesikan agreed that continuity and continuation of projects already underway is important in the area of science.
