In a statement to Russia’s Itar-Tas news agency, Djelic said that at a meeting with representatives of Gazprom management, the Serbian delegation will talk about the possibilities to speed up the modernisation process of Naftna Industrija Srbije (NIS).
He said that this year NIS will process 3.3 million tonnes of oil and added that Serbia’s needs for various types of fuel are approximately 4.4 million tonnes.
Every year Serbia purchases more than a tonne of oil derivatives, mostly Euro Diesel, which means that NIS will have to begin an investment cycle, stressed Djelic and announced that this will be a topic for discussion with Gazprom representatives in St. Petersburg.
In a statement to the Tanjug news agency, Advisor to the Deputy Prime Minister Tamara Glisic explained that the delegation will hold several bilateral meetings with Russian officials and heads of Russian companies.
She stressed that the plan is to talk with president of Gazprom executive board Aleksey Miler and general director of Gazprom Neft Alexander Dyukov about the implementation of the energy agreement between Serbia and Russia.
According to her, Serbian representatives will also meet with general director of Aeroflot Valery Okulov to discuss possibilities of Aeroflot participating in the privatisation of Jat Airways.
The Serbian and Russian delegations will also discuss issues related to bilateral cooperation between the two countries, specified Glisic.
Over 2,000 experts in economy, businessmen and representatives of state organs from Russia and all over the world will take part in the forum which opens tomorrow.
Participants will be welcomed by Russian Minister of Economic Development Elvira Nabiullina and governor of St. Petersburg Valentina Matviyenko. Russian President Dmitry Medvedev will also speak at the plenary session.
The first day of the forum is dedicated to development issues of world economy and protection of national economic interests in the age of globalisation, which will be discussed at numerous round table discussions and conferences.
On June 8, the forum will look at Russia’s role and position in the global economy and discuss its long-term development strategy, international economic activities and cooperation in investments.
The Serbian delegation will also include State Secretary of Economy and Regional Development Jasna Matic and NIS general director Milos Saramandic.
