Serbian Deputy Prime Minister Bozidar Djelic has most strongly condemned, on behalf of the Serbian government, the insulting and provoking text written at the front door of the building of the Serbian Roma Union (URS) and together with URS president Rajko Djuric whitewashed the wall.

Djelic addressed the press as saying that the Roma population is an integral part of Serbia's identity, that Serbs and Roma have suffered together, the last time being in Kosovo-Metohija, and that is inadmissible that in the year 2008 in Belgrade we are witnessing Nazi and fascist messages written on walls.
We must not tolerate intolerance. We cannot tolerate threats to anyone, especially not to national minorities, the Deputy Prime Minister stressed and noted that authorities are expected to reveal and punish the perpetrators and inspirers of this act.
He announced he will urgently call a session of the National Council for the promotion of the situation of the Roma, of which he is president and in which the security of Roma in Serbia will be discussed.
He also recalled that Serbia is presiding over the "Decade of Roma" as of June 1.
