Naumov said that Republika Srpska is the right place for this debate, since it was here that different religious traditions crystallized, and respecting all of them is necessary for peace.
Naumov’s speech titled “Cherishing Religious Traditions as a Condition for Peace in the Contemporary World”, particularly emphasised the fact that Serbian religious traditions are under long term threat in Kosovo-Metohija, the birthplace of Serbian Christian culture and also the place where Serbian history and statehood matured.
When Albanians and their foreign sponsors in Kosovo-Metohija affirm the Serbian Orthodox Christian traditions, when they recognise Serbian history, cultural rights and the right to statehood, then freedom will come to every man and all the peoples in the province, regardless of their religious beliefs or ethnic origin. It is only on this basis that justice, lasting peace and stability can come to the whole of Europe, said Naumov.
This year’s conference was themed “Religious Traditions as an Important Factor in the Preservation of Peace in the Contemporary World” and it brought together representatives from 24 states, including Eastern Europe, the former Soviet Union, the Middle East, the Balkans, the Mediterranean and Africa.
