Minister of Culture Nikola Selaković opened today at the Slovak National Gallery in Bratislava the exhibition “Serbian Medieval Monasteries in Danger”, which was organised on the occasion of two decades since the inscription of the Visoki Dečani Monastery on the UNESCO World Heritage List.

Selaković emphasised that the Serbian cultural heritage in Kosovo and Metohija is still one of the most endangered in Europe in the 21st century.
He noted that four cultural properties – the Dečani Monastery, the Peć Patriarchate, the Gračanica Monastery and the Church of the Holy Virgin of Ljeviša, which are part of the UNESCO World Heritage List, have been on the List of World Heritage in Danger since 2006.
Despite all this, attacks on Serbian heritage continue, along with attempts at renaming and falsifying history, he said, noting that between 2023 and 2024, 31 attacks were recorded, most of which were aimed at the destruction and desecration of cultural property.
