Serbian Prime Minister Vojislav Kostunica said today in talks with Austrian Foreign Minister Ursula Plassnik that the Serbian government is certain that the UN Security Council will not adopt a new resolution regarding Kosovo-Metohija based on the plan presented by Ahtisaari, since that plan is illegal and illegitimate and envisages seizure of 15% of Serbia’s territory.
Kostunica said at the meeting that the world order rests on international law and the UN Charter which guarantees sovereignty, territorial integrity and inviolability of the borders of all countries.
He stressed that Serbia is fully determined to find a solution based on compromise for the future status of Kosovo-Metohija, which is according to universal principles and the international law, and Serbia has presented such a solution by offering substantial autonomy to the province within Serbian borders.
The Serbian Prime Minister stressed that fulfilment of standards should have preceded talks on status, but they have not been implemented in the least and the Security Council mission will confirm this indisputable fact.
