2nd International Participants Meeting for Expo 2027 opened in Belgrade

The 2nd International Participants Meeting for Expo 2027 began in Belgrade today, which gathered in Serbia’s capital city around 500 delegates and media representatives from 138 countries around the world.

At the beginning of the meeting, the participants were addressed by First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance Siniša Mali, Minister of Domestic and Foreign Trade and Commissioner of Expo 2027 Jagoda Lazarević, Secretary General of the Bureau International des Expositions (BIE) Dimitri Kerkentzes and Director of Expo 2027 Danilo Jerinić.

Mali emphasised on this occasion that Expo 2027 Belgrade will be the largest specialised exhibition in history and the largest world event that year.

The Expo will also be an opportunity to strengthen international cooperation and work together for a more stable and better world, he said, adding that work on the complex is progressing according to plan and that the pavilions will be handed over to the participating countries by 1 December, as stipulated in the contracts.

Lazarević pointed out that this event will be more than a world exhibition and will represent a project of trust, cooperation and long-term partnership.

She pointed out that visitors who come to Belgrade will have the opportunity to learn about advanced technologies and ideas, as well as the diversity of each participating country, emphasising that organising the exhibition represents a great responsibility for Serbia and an obligation of transparent dialogue.

Kerkentzes underlined that the high level of cooperation between countries maintains the spirit of Expo 2027 as a global platform for dialogue and joint work.

He pointed out that preparations for the exhibition in Belgrade are accelerating and highlighted the importance of close cooperation between the participating countries on technical and organisational issues in order to successfully implement the event.

According to his assessment, the theme of the Expo encourages cooperation and the exchange of ideas, noting that such events help countries to seek answers to contemporary global challenges through creativity and dialogue.

Jerinić pointed out that a lot of work and planning had been invested in the preparation of this meeting, with the aim of strengthening cooperation that should be the foundation for the successful implementation of the major event in 2027.

Among the participants in the meeting are representatives of the world's leading economies, representatives of the United Nations, as well as numerous international organisations and development agencies.

57 media outlets and about 160 journalists, cameramen and photo reporters have been accredited for this event.

Specialised Expo 2027, whose theme is “Play for Humanity – Sport and Music for All”, will be held from 15 May to 15 August 2027 in Belgrade.
