With this decision, the European Commission confirmed that Serbia has fully met the three steps envisaged under the first payment request, thereby demonstrating exceptional progress and commitment to the implementation of the agreed Reform Agenda, and the disbursement will be carried out upon completion of the prescribed procedure.
It is important to note that Serbia is achieving continuous and timely reform momentum, as further evidenced by the fact that it has already successfully received pre-financing in the amount of €111 million, while assessment processes are under way for the next two submitted tranches.
With the approval of this first tranche, Serbia has secured, in absolute terms, the largest amount of approved funds among all Western Balkan partners within this mechanism.
The total approved funds for Serbia (pre-financing and the first tranche) exceed those granted to some partners in the region even after two tranches.
Additional weight is given to this success by the fact that, unlike some other countries in the region, Serbia has not been subject to any reduction in the allocated funds.
The assessment process for the fulfilment of conditions for the second tranche is currently under way, while the third request, valued at €95 million, was submitted on 15 January 2026 and includes eight additional reform steps.
The Government of the Republic of Serbia remains steadfastly committed to the further implementation of the Reform Agenda, which it considers a key driver of economically beneficial reforms and a powerful tool for accelerating European integration.
The process aims to ensure that citizens and businesses of Serbia receive visible and tangible benefits as soon as possible, the statement concludes.
