The Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management announced that a public debate on the Draft Law on Animal Feed has begun today, which will last until 5 January 2026.
The statement states that a roundtable is also planned to be held during the said period, about which the public will be informed in due course, and reminds that the area of animal feed is currently regulated by various regulations, which makes effective risk-based supervision and control difficult.
The new law will systematically regulate this area and contribute to the improvement of the control system at all stages of production, processing, placing on the market and use of animal feed, with the application of international standards.
The aim of the law is to ensure greater safety for animals and humans, as well as faster detection of potential health risks through a functional alert system.
At the same time, the adoption of this document represents an important step in fulfilling Serbia’s obligations in the process of accession to the European Union, specifically within Chapter 12 and Cluster 5 – Resources, Agriculture and Cohesion.
In this way, Serbia is harmonising its domestic legislation with Acquis Communautaire.
