Speaking at the University of Criminal Investigation and Police Studies during the presentation of the publication “Together and Safely Through Childhood”, part of the eponymous project, Dačić explained that this is an important initiative aimed at improving safety for children in schools and enhancing security for society as a whole.
He emphasised that school police officers are present in school areas during the beginning and end of classes, during shifts and long breaks, in order to detect and eliminate anything that might disrupt classes or endanger students in any way.
Minister without portfolio in charge of gender equality, prevention of violence against women and economic and political empowerment of women Tatjana Macura called on students and teachers to learn more about the opportunities offered by the National Platform for the Prevention of Violence Including Children “I Protect You”, where they can report violence, as well as to be adequately informed and educated about this problem.
The Minister of Education’s Chief of Staff Slađana Nikolić specified that more than 66,378 workshops have been held, including 19,792 dedicated to preventing peer violence in the real and digital environments, with participation from 446,000 students from the first to the eighth grade of primary school.
Given the complexity of protecting children from violence, it is essential to continue this programme and implement activities that will contribute to creating a safe and supportive environment – not only in schools but throughout the entire community, concluded Nikolić.
