Mali welcomed all the guests at the Sava Centre on behalf of President of the Republic of Serbia Aleksandar Vučić and emphasised that more than 400 delegates from 154 countries from all over the world are attending the event.
The First Deputy Prime Minister added that representatives of five international institutions are also present, meaning that delegates and representatives from a total of 159 countries and institutions are participating in the event, which shows how justified the organisation of the Expo exhibition is.
"We have allocated €18 billion to improve the infrastructure in our Serbia in the next two years, to improve both road and railway infrastructure, to further invest in healthcare, education, culture, sports and more," he said.
Mali noted that so far 114 countries have confirmed their participation in Expo 2027 in Belgrade and said that in the next two days, guests will be able to visit the construction site where, among other things, 1,500 apartments, the National Stadium and the exhibition complex are being built.
We are working to hand over the keys to the pavilion to you by 1 December of next year, Mali said, emphasising that Serbia, with its Expo, will set a new record for the number of participating countries currently held by Astana, where 117 countries gathered in 2017.
He underlined that Expo 2027 will be the largest event in the whole world that year.
Secretary General of the Bureau International des Expositions Dimitri Kerkentzes pointed out that for the first time a specialised Expo exhibition will be held in the Western Balkans, in a region of diverse cultures, heritage and dynamic creativity.
He expressed his belief that through Expo 2027 the world will discover new perspectives, new opportunities for connection and inspiration.
According to him, the Bureau International des Expositions is proud to support Serbia and all countries on this common journey.
Expo 2027 d.o.o. Belgrade CEO Dušan Borovčanin said that all the effort invested in this event will be visible in the coming days, and expressed gratitude to the Serbian government for understanding the value that this project brings to Serbia.
