Kostunica voiced regret that the talks with the EU have been called off, adding that a lot has been done regarding the cooperation with the Hague Tribunal. The most important thing now is to solve the case of Ratko Mladic, he said.
The Prime Minister pointed out that the issue of Kosovo-Metohija future status should be solved within the existing borders and in line with European principles. Only this approach can lead to regional stability, he said.
Kostunica reiterated that the issue of standards must be solved, since they are to help enable the respect of human rights for non-ethnic Albanians in Kosovo.
Yamanaka agreed that the implementation of standards is of great significance and called for caution and patience in finding the right solution to the province which will bring peace and stability to the region.
She voiced her regret at the EU's decision to call off the negotiations, adding that she hopes the problem will be solved in the shortest period possible.
Kostunica thanked Yamanaka for Japan's economic assistance, stressing the importance of Japanese investment in Serbia.
