Serbian Prime Minister Vojislav Kostunica met today with Martin Schulz, chairman of the Socialist Group in the European Parliament, and presented him with Serbia-Montenegro’s EU negotiations process.
Kostunica pointed out that Serbia-Montenegro is clearly committed to EU integration and noted that continuation of talks on Stabilisation and Association Agreement (SAA) is crucially important.
The future status of Kosovo-Metohija must be harmonised with international law, which will be guaranteed by the province’s essential autonomy within Serbia, Kostunica said.
The Prime Minister warned that fundamental human rights of the Serb community in Kosovo-Metohija are violated and stressed that reaching an agreement on decentralisation within the province is key of Serb survival in the province.
Schulz noted that the European perspective for the region of Western Balkans is open and said that the state union of Serbia-Montenegro is part of Europe, expressing his support to our country’s European road.
