Prime Minister Miloš Vučević spoke today with Ambassador of Japan to Serbia Akira Imamura about bilateral relations, economic cooperation and partnership in the field of joint projects of the two countries.
Vučević pointed out that the upcoming visit of Serbian businessmen to Japan next week will be a good opportunity to expand cooperation and pass on experience and added that Japanese investors have already recognised the advantages of doing business in Serbia.
The Prime Minister underlined that Serbia is very interested in Japanese investments in the fields of automotive, chemical, pharmaceutical and IT industries, as well as investments in the fields of environmental protection and culture.
Recalling that several large Japanese companies are successfully operating in our country, such as Toyo Tires, Nidek and Itochu, he called on other Japanese investors to invest in the Serbian market.
The Prime Minister said that he is very satisfied with the fact that both countries are interested in cooperation in the construction and financing of the Bistrica pumped storage hydropower plant and in other energy projects, as well as in projects in the field of environmental protection.
Speaking about bilateral relations, Vučević expressed dissatisfaction with Japan's decision to support the Resolution on Srebrenica in the UN General Assembly, stressing that this attitude does not contribute to reconciliation and strengthening of good relations in the region.
Imamura pointed out that Japan strives to foster good relations and support the stability and prosperity of Serbia, expressing gratitude for the support of the Serbian government to bilateral economic cooperation, which, as he assessed, is gaining more and more intensity.
