In a statement to the press following a meeting with French President Jacques Chirac, Kostunica recalled that the precondition for this is full cooperation with the Hague Tribunal, which implies that the case of Ratko Mladic must be solved. Kostunica added that the Serbian government will do all it can to fulfil these obligations.
He pointed out that Serbia-Montenegro will soon complete all its obligations towards the Tribunal, which will help speed up the country's progress toward the EU.
Kostunica said that he exchanged only "a few words" with Chirac on the cooperation with the Hague, because the French President convinced him that he is absolutely certain that Serbia will fulfil its obligations in this matter.

Kostunica added that they also discussed the negotiations on the future status of Kosovo-Metohija and announced that the Serbian government will soon state the details of its position on the province's future status.
According to Kostunica, Serbia is for essential autonomy that will break all ties with the pre-1999 situation, but is also against the idea of independent Kosovo and one more country in the Balkans.
The Prime Minister said that the talks on Kosovo status held in Vienna have not been much successful so far.
Speaking about the referendum in Montenegro, Kostunica said that Chirac agreed with him that integration is by far superior to any idea of disintegration. "Disintegration" should not be the first step in the EU integration process through which Serbia is going, he added.
Kostunica wrapped up his two day visit to Paris this evening with a meeting with French Minister of Foreign Affairs Philippe Douste-Blazy, highest ranking representatives of the National Assembly of France and representatives of the Serbia-Montenegro Diaspora in France.
The main topics of talks were negotiations on the future status of Kosovo-Metohija, and issues such as cooperation with the Hague Tribunal, the future of the state union and Serbia-Montenegro’s EU accession efforts.
Kostunica also visited the studio of artist Vladimir Velickovic.
