Kostunica pointed out that the essential autonomy for Kosovo-Metohija is a European solution, noting that within that autonomy, the Serb community must be given autonomy as well.
The Serbian Prime Minister said that fundamental human rights to members of the Serb community in Kosovo-Metohija are endangered and highlighted that Belgrade’s plan for decentralisation provides protection and survival of the Serbian people in the province.
Davis agreed that the Serb community in Kosovo-Metohija is living in difficult conditions and stressed that human rights for all ethnic community need to be respected. He expressed particular interest in the decentralisation plan proposed by Belgrade authorities.
He added that the Council of Europe is advocating the reconstruction and renovation of Serbian Orthodox churches in Kosovo-Metohija.
Speaking about the state-union's EU integration, Kostunica stressed that Serbia is highly committed to this process. It is also of great importance that talks on the Stabilisation and Association Agreement with the EU have continued, he added.
Davis said he is supportive both of Serbia and its EU accession process, adding that the state union of Serbia-Montenegro is a part of Europe.
