Kostunica is in Bucharest at the moment, attending a Summit of heads of governments of Southeast European countries. Following a meeting with Rehn, he said that the discussion was constructive and focused on the way Serbia could soon join the EU despite all hindrances and challenges.
Kostunica added that yesterday's continuation of the
second round of official talks on the Stabilisation and Association Agreement with the EU is very encouraging.
"I am more than grateful to EU Commissioner Rehn for helping create conditions for the idea of Serbia-Montenegro's EU accession to come true in the years to come", said Kostunica.
Rehn announced that a meeting will be held in Belgrade at the end of May to continue the negotiations about regional cooperation among countries of Southeast Europe, adding that Serbia's role in the region is of great importance.
He also said that he has offered his support to Kostunica, urging him to confront all challenges, including full cooperation with the Hague Tribunal.
"I also mentioned that the EU is devoted to Serbia's European future as well as our willingness to live together", concluded Rehn.
