Brnabic, who together with Minister of Information and Telecommunications Mihailo Jovanovic, attended the laying of the foundation stone for the construction of this first and only innovation district in Serbia and the region, pointed out that this project was initiated by the government of Serbia in order to improve the country’s digitalisation.
According to her, the construction of the Innovation District represents an excellent reference for Serbia.
After the construction of the Data Center according to the highest standards, companies such as Oracle, IBM, Huawei started coming and decided to store their data with us. Then we completed the second phase of the Data Center for all our security services, and for the first time in the history of Serbia, we are storing their data, as well as that of all our citizens, in a safe and secure way, the Prime Minister pointed out.
On behalf of the government of Serbia, Jovanovic signed three memoranda of understanding with representatives of the Japanese company Toshiba, the Dutch company AET and the domestic Postal Savings Bank, which will be among the first commercial users to start working on innovative solutions within the Innovation District.
Jovanovic said that this is a very significant day for digitalisation and innovations that Serbia wants to improve.
The State Data Centre, as he pointed out, is a symbol of digitalisation in Serbia, and the new space of the Innovation District will represent a unique space in the region, the conceptual solution of which was worked on by representatives of the scientific community.
The innovation district will be built in phases and will cover more than four hectares, with a total of 62 thousand square meters and 23 thousand square meters of garage space.
