Prime Minister Ana Brnabic stated today that our country and the Democratic Republic of São Tomé and Príncipe have an ever-improving political and bilateral cooperation, as well as increasingly frequent mutual visits by officials.
In an address to the press, after meeting with Prime Minister of the Democratic Republic of São Tomé and Príncipe Patrice Émery Trovoada, Brnabic said that Serbia, as a friendly country, helped São Tomé and Príncipe whenever it was needed, stating that in 2022 sent a one-time financial aid of $100,000 for rehabilitation of the consequences of floods, as well as a donation of 100 tons of flour and 100 tons of oil.
Also, as she added, in 2023, Serbia sent humanitarian aid in the form of 20 tonnes of seed corn from the "Zemun Polje" Corn Institute.
Brnabic announced that during his visit to Serbia, Prime Minister Trovoada will hold a meeting with representatives of the "Zemun Polje" Corn Institute, so that, with the support of certain organisations such as the Food and Agriculture Agency of the United Nations (FAO), we will share our knowledge about seed material this country.
She pointed out that Serbia, when it comes to technology in the field of agriculture, is one of the most advanced on the European continent, thanks to our scientific institute for digitalisation in the field of agriculture, BioSens.
These are the things we want to make available to our partners and to show through such a platform the technology that Serbia and its scientists can offer to other countries, in order to open markets for our scientific institutes, but also for our businessmen, the Prime Minister said.
At the same time, Brnabic said that the two countries have good and concrete plans for cooperation, as well as that Serbia is satisfied with the overall cooperation with that African country.
She noted that today four strategic areas were discussed, namely digitalisation of public administration and introduction of electronic administration, agriculture and food safety, the domain of defence, as well as cooperation in the field of education.
Brnabic expressed her gratitude to the Prime Minister for the fact that São Tomé and Príncipe respects the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Serbia, as well as for the help and support for Serbia to receive additional votes from African countries for the organization of the "EXPO 2027" exhibition in Belgrade.
In 2013, the Democratic Republic of São Tomé and Príncipe made a decision to withdraw the recognition of the independence of "Kosovo", since the decision of the previous coalition government of that country was never adopted in the assembly.
