Responsible behaviour of Serbia in unstable circumstances

First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Ivica Dacic said today, at the opening of the "World in 2024" conference, that Serbia will continue to lead a responsible policy, in accordance with national interests, and that with its activities it contributes to the promotion of global peace, maintaining stability and achieving progress.

Dacic said that the preservation of sovereignty and territorial integrity remains the most important national and state priority of Serbia.

Unfortunately, the situation in Kosovo and Metohija is extremely difficult and complex. Serbs in Kosovo and Metohija live in a permanent state of danger, tension and uncertainty, deprived of basic human rights and in continuous fear for their own lives, Dacic emphasised.

According to him, it is of crucial importance for us to unconditionally ensure the survival of the Serb community in our southern province, which is why we remain committed to dialogue as the only effective mechanism for resolving disputes and building peace, despite Pristina's persistent refusal to fulfill its obligations assumed long ago.

He reiterated that membership in the European Union is a strategic commitment and priority of Serbia's foreign policy, which is why we will continue to implement comprehensive reforms in order to achieve economic and social progress.

I sincerely hope that, in 2024, the results we achieved in the past period will be recognised to a greater extent, but that they will also be valorised in an adequate way, Dacic said.
