The session was attended by members of the Working Group: Commissioner for Refugees and Migration of the Republic of Serbia Natasa Stanisavljevic, representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of European Integration, the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of Labour, Employment, Veteran and Social Affairs, a representative of the Serbian Red Cross, as well as a representative of the General Staff of the Serbian Army.
The response plan to the increased number of migrants provides emergency assistance to migrants, protection to persons who apply for asylum, including special protection of children, as well as protection to persons who meet the conditions in accordance with the Law on Asylum and Temporary Protection.
The plan also provides conditions for the reception and care of migrants, including education, social and health care, but also cooperation with local communities in order to maintain a level of tolerance towards migrants.
Surveillance of the state border, suppression of human smuggling and irregular migration, and provision of assisted voluntary return to countries of origin are also provided.
Brkic pointed out that the Republic of Serbia and all its institutions manage migration responsibly and are ready to respond to all challenges in the event of an increased number of migrants.
