On the sidelines of this event, Vucevic met with Executive Secretary-General of the European External Action Service (EEAS) Stefano Sannino, pointing out that the partnership between Serbia and the EU in the field of security and defence has been going on for more than a decade, as well as that it is in line with the national foreign policy priority, and that is the membership of our country in the Union.
Vucevic underlined that the presence of international forces in Kosovo and Metohija, in accordance with UN Security Council Resolution 1244 and the Military Technical Agreement, is necessary in order to maintain peace.
He warned that unilateral and irresponsible moves by Pristina not only harm the dialogue, but affect the destabilisation of the entire region.
Sannino suggested that security partnership cooperation be extended to areas such as cyber security and hybrid threats, explaining that security today must be based on a common perception of challenges and threats in the world.
Vucevic and Bulgarian Minister of Defence Dimitar Stoyanov assessed that cooperation in the field of defence is good, with the possibility of its further improvement in the areas of common interest.
At the meeting with Minister of Defence of the Republic of Cyprus Michalis Giorgallas, Vucevic expressed his gratitude for the continued support of that country in preserving the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Serbia and emphasised that our country supports finding a comprehensive solution to the Cyprus issue, in accordance with the relevant UN resolutions.
