Minister of Mining and Energy Dubravka Djedovic spoke today with UN Resident Coordinator in the Republic of Serbia Françoise Jacob about cooperation in the field of energy transition and environmental protection.
The Minister emphasised that Serbia is committed to the energy transition process, which will reduce the negative impacts of energy on the environment, taking into account the sustainability and stability of the energy system.
She pointed out that the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) is an important partner of the Ministry of Mining and Energy in improving energy efficiency and rational use of energy.
In cooperation with UNDP, we are working on an important project to improve energy efficiency in 27 central government buildings, in which we will increase comfort and significantly reduce financial and environmental costs, she said.
The first phase of the project, in which energy certificates are produced, is underway, while we expect the first works on these facilities, worth around€ 40 million, at the end of summer, Djedovic said.
Jacob pointed to the readiness of UN agencies to provide further support in defining priorities in the drafting of strategic energy documents and implementing a just transition in the mining sector.
