Serbian Prime Minister Vojislav Kostunica said today at the meeting with representatives of the National Council of the Croat national minority in Serbia-Montenegro and representatives of the Democratic Alliance of Croats in Vojvodina that the Serbian government is resolved to do everything it can to improve the position of national minorities.
Kostunica stressed that the Serbian National Minorities' Council is a good institutional framework for permanent contacts of representatives of the state authorities and national minorities' councils.
It was jointly emphasised that the improvement of the position of Croatian ethnic minority in Serbia and Serb ethnic minority in Croatia will contribute to further development of good neighbourly relations between the state union of Serbia-Montenegro and Croatia. It was also said that becoming part of the process of EU integration has led to the development of a completely new stage in relations between the two countries.
Participants in the talks agreed to intensify contacts with proper institutions concerning the realisation of concrete projects in the areas of culture and cross-border cooperation.
