Opening of electrified railway section Dragoman-Dimitrovgrad
Kostunica, who is currently on a two-day official visit to Bulgaria, said on the occasion that by opening one such railway Serbia-Montenegro and Bulgaria have created a European border, open and transparent in the true sense of the word.
He said that Serbian and Bulgarian people have much in common, to which they now added the common, European future. Modernisation of the railway and highway systems will contribute to even better relations between the two countries, Kostunica said, and added that there is still more to be done towards improving economic cooperation.
Stanishev said that both Serbia and Bulgaria have gone through the rough period of transition, but in order to realise their common aims, they have to improve political and especially economic cooperation.
Serbian Minister of Capital Investment Velimir Ilic, who also took part in the inauguration ceremony, said that modernisation of this railway section, which is a part of the pan-European Corridor 10, will reduce the costs and increase the speed of rail travel and transport.
Bulgarian Minister of Transport Petar Mutafchiev said that a total of 15 passenger and 30 freight trains will operate on this route.
