Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence Nebojsa Stefanovic met today with the Director General of the International Military Staff, Lieutenant General Hans Werner Wiermann, who is on a visit to Serbia.
Stefanovic evaluated cooperation to date, in which the International Military Staff has an important role, as good and added that Serbia is satisfied with the results of participation in activities under the auspices of the Partnership for Peace programme.
The Deputy Prime Minister underlined that Serbia is firmly committed to peace and stability, as basic preconditions for prosperity, both in our region and the world and that it gives concrete and visible contributions to their preservation.
He described as very important and good cooperation of the Serbian Army with KFOR, recalling that KFOR, under the UN Security Council Resolution 1244 and the Military and Technical Agreement, represents the only keeper of security in Kosovo and Metohija, whose competencies cannot be transferred.
Wiermann said that NATO respects very much the partnership with Serbia and underlined the importance of cooperation of the Ministry of Defence and the Serbian Army with NATO as part of the Partnership for Peace programme.
