Lot of room for cooperation with UK in field of energy transition

Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Serbia and Minister of Mining and Energy Zorana Mihajlovic and Minister for Energy, Clean Growth and Climate Change of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland Gregory Hands discussed cooperation between the two countries in energy transition, the fight against climate change and the development and use of new technologies in the field of energy.

Mihajlovic pointed out that the green energy transition is a global issue and that Serbia wants to cooperate with all countries, especially with those ahead of us in the use of renewable energy sources, decarbonisation of the energy sector and the use of green hydrogen as an energy source.

The Deputy Prime Minister reminded that last year Serbia made the first step in the energy transition by passing new laws in the field of energy and mining and created conditions for new investments in the energy sector.

The officials also discussed the signing of a memorandum on cooperation between Serbia and Great Britain in the field of energy transition and the fight against climate change, which will further improve relations between the two countries.

Hands expressed satisfaction with today's talks on strengthening cooperation and a more productive partnership between the two countries in the field of energy transition, combating climate change and the process of decarbonisation, especially today when energy is the main topic at the global level.

He assessed that there is a lot of room for cooperation, and said that Great Britain supports Serbia in the process of energy transition and diversification of sources.
