After the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding between the Ministry of Mining and Energy and the Israeli Ministry of Energy on cooperation in the field of green energy, Mihajlovic said that the good political relations between the two countries will help create partnership in the green, energy transition too.
She noted that Serbia and Israel have good friendly ties and good bilateral, economic and political relations.
According to Mihajlovic, the signing of the memorandum represents a basis for the further development of relations in the field of energy, especially in the field of renewable energy sources, where there are already companies from Israel, but also for the creation of even more favourable business and investment environment and the exchange of experiences.
It is a fact that Israel is far ahead of us when it comes to decarbonisation of the energy sector and it has done much more in the field of renewable energy sources and we want even more Israeli investors who will invest in green energy.
Mihajlovic underlined that with the adoption of a new legislative framework, and especially the Law on the use of renewable energy sources, Serbia showed its clear commitment to decarbonisation and it started the process of energy transition.
We have clearly opted for going towards a sustainable, green energy and increasing energy security. We are also interested in cooperation with Israel in the gas sector, especially on the East Mediterranean project, as that would bring Serbia one more supply route and new suppliers and that would additionally increase energy security, Mihajlovic stated.
Ambassador of Israel to Serbia Yahel Vilan stated that cooperation in the field of green energy will help strengthen business ties and improve the field of research and he invited Deputy Prime Minister Mihajlovic to visit Israel.
I want to thank the Deputy Prime Minister on the active role she has had all the time when it comes to cooperation between Serbia and Israel. The memorandum is a very important step forward in the development of relations between the two countries, especially when it comes to green energy.
Energy is one of the most important topics of today, on which our future depends to a large extent. That is why we need to cooperate, especially because I think we have a lot to offer to each other and to work together on the realisation of projects, Vilan said.
