Gojkovic pointed out that the relations between the two countries are at the historical level, as well as that one of the priorities of the governments of Serbia and Hungary is close cooperation in the field of culture.
She emphasised that Serbia is grateful to Hungary for its support on the path to membership in the European Union, as well as support through the exchange of experience in the field of improving legislation in order to harmonise with European legislation.
The Deputy Prime Minister pointed out that the example of Hungary is important for Serbia in its strategic commitments in the field of culture, as well as investments in infrastructure, and that our country has embarked on this path of investing in culture, citing the example of a large project of reconstruction of the building of the old railway station for the needs of the History Museum.
The officials emphasised the importance of the Memorandum of Understanding on Cooperation in the Film Sector, signed during Gojkovic's recent visit to Budapest, which encourages cooperation, co-production projects and especially cooperation in presenting common history and events connecting the two countries.
Kasler emphasised the exceptional importance of strengthening cooperation between cultural institutions in the field of museology and singled out the cooperation of national museums in Belgrade and Budapest as a good example.
During the meeting, they also talked about cooperation within the European Capital of Culture, as well as the field of cultural heritage and in that context the erection of a monument to Nikola Tesla in Budapest, within the agreement between the two countries on erecting a monument to Sibinjanin Janko in Belgrade and to Tesla in Budapest.
