The government of the Republic of Serbia announced that a meeting of the Working Group for the preparation of proposals for resolving the status of freelancers was held today in the Palace of Serbia.
At the beginning of the meeting, the participants of the Working Group were informed that it was agreed with the associations of freelancers that the existing model of taxation would continue to be applied until the entry into force of the new rules.
Accordingly, an agreement was reached on the extension of the transitional regime, which provides additional space and time for the preparation of proposals for new regulations, in the preparation of which all stakeholders will participate.
At the meeting, an attempt was made to precisely define the term "freelancer" and how to most easily recognise it in domestic legislation. Also, there was talk about the legal regulation of this activity in the countries of the European Union, as well as in the countries of the region.
The third association of freelancers has joined the working group, which means that it now consists of three associations of freelancers, as well as representatives of the government, the Ministry of Finance, the Tax Administration, the National Bank of Serbia and the non-governmental sector.
The next meeting of the Working Group for the preparation of the proposal which resolves the status of freelancers is scheduled for 26 November.
