Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence Nebojsa Stefanovic, who is on an official visit to Turkey, met in Ankara today with Turkish Minister of National Defence Hulusi Akar.
Selakovic and Akar discussed cooperation between the two countries in the field of defence and the possibilities of its further improvement, especially in the military-military and military-economic segment.
Recalling that Turkey is one of the most important foreign trade partners of Serbia and that the inflow of Turkish FDI in Serbia is constantly growing, Selakovic conveyed Serbia’s commitment to intensifying military cooperation.
He underlined that the participation in joint military exercises is an excellent opportunity for the exchange of knowledge and experiences between the two armies and he set as an example the upcoming joint parachute training of special units in Turkey. The Minister voiced expectation that members of the Turkish Army will increase their participation in the exercises organised by the Serbian Army.
Akar stated that the relations between our countries are important, both for the stability of the entire region and for its economic and overall development.
