Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Mining and Energy Zorana Mihajlovic spoke today with World Bank (WB) Regional Director for Infrastructure for Europe and Central Asia Charles Cormier about reforms in the energy sector, energy transition and new projects with this financial institution.

Mihajlovic said that this year our country embarked on energy transition, in which three main challenges for us will be the increase in energy efficiency, use of potentials of renewable energy sources and the gradual reduction of share of energy produced from coal.
The participants in the meeting also discussed the possible support of the World Bank for financing incentives for the improvement of energy efficiency in the housing sector as part of a new project worth $50 million.
Cormier underlined that the World Bank is ready to support activities of the Ministry, especially regarding the process of decarbonisation, and highlighted the importance of including citizens into the process of energy transition and cooperation with the civil society.
