Bill on use of Serbian language, protection of Cyrillic alphabet adopted

At today's session, the government of the Republic of Serbia adopted the Bill on the Use of the Serbian Language in Public Life and the Protection and Preservation of the Cyrillic Alphabet, which aims to nurture the Serbian language and the Cyrillic alphabet, as well as cultural and traditional values, promoting its use in public life, given its historical, cultural and identity significance.

The government adopted an amended Bill on the Prevention of Corruption, which adopted the recommendations of the Group of States against Corruption of the Council of Europe (GRECO), of which Serbia is a member, and which relate to further harmonisation in the accession process and reforms implemented by the state, the rule of law and the fight against corruption.

At the session, the consent was given to the Republic Pension and Disability Insurance Fund to pay financial assistance in the amount of RSD 5,900 to pension beneficiaries, temporary benefit beneficiaries – disabled workers of the second and third disability categories, i.e. remaining working ability and disabled children – temporary benefit beneficiaries at the Republic pension and disability insurance fund.

The members of the government made a decision on the establishment of the Educational and Scientific Centre "Jastrebac", which will represent the scientific and teaching base of all universities in the Republic of Serbia in the field of natural sciences and environmental protection.
