First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Education, Science and Technological Development Branko Ruzic spoke in Belgrade today with OSCE High Commissioner on National Minorities Kairat Abdrakhmanov.
Ruzic said that one of the Ministry’s priorities is to give quality education to all children and that Serbia is committed to improving education of national minorities.
We want to increase the coverage of children at all levels of education and to reduce the dropout rate of vulnerable groups from the education system, the Minister said.
Abdrakhmanov praised the efforts Serbia is investing in the protection of rights of national minorities and stated that our country is a bright example in the region and the world in this field.
He added that the OSCE and Serbia are partners on various projects which are developing very successfully.
The two officials also examined the possibility of organising a roundtable meeting on the topic of protection of rights of national minorities, at which Serbia could present examples of good practice, especially in the field of education.
