First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Education, Science and Technological Development Branko Ruzic talked today with UNICEF Regional Director for Europe and Central Asia Afshan Khan.
At the meeting held at the Ministry of Education, Science and Technological Development, Ruzic emphasised the importance of UNICEF's support for Serbia.
The support of UNICEF meant a lot to us at the time when we faced the challenge of organising online classes due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Our common focus was on children from socially endangered families, and the goal is to make teaching available to all children in these times of crisis, said Ruzic.
Khan pointed out that Serbia excellently organised the teaching process in the conditions of the pandemic and that Serbia's approach was a role model in the region.
Children from vulnerable groups and access to education were your priority. UNICEF supported that, and the support model that we developed together will be a model for similar projects in the region, UNICEF's regional director for Europe and Central Asia said.
The officials also discussed the continuation of cooperation and joint projects that contribute to the improvement of education, with an emphasis on digitalization in preschool education, as well as teacher training.
