Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Mining and Energy Zorana Mihajlovic talked today with General Director of the company Rio Tinto for borates and lithium Marnie Finlayson about the realisation of the project Jadar.
Mihajlovic said that the Ministry, together with Rio Tinto and the citizens of Serbia, and especially of the Macva district, is today taking part in the realisation of a huge and strategically important project for our country, whose aim is to enable further development and help along the way towards a green economy and a better world.
According to her, this project is also of strategic importance for the exploitation and production of lithium, as well as for the green economy, our GDP, new jobs and the sustainable economy we strive for.
Finlayson said that this is more than a mining project, a modern mine will be built, with accompanying infrastructure, and more than 2,000 jobs will be created in that business.
We are investing an additional $200 million for the final phase of the investigation, which will total $450 million, according to the estimates made to date, Finlayson said.
