Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Mining and Energy Zorana Mihajlovic talked today with Ambassador of Australia to Serbia Ruth Stewart about further improvement of cooperation between the two countries in the mining sector.
Ambassador Stewart congratulated Mihajlovic on her appointment to the new ministerial position and expressed the interest of Australia and Australian companies in cooperation in the mining sector.
In addition to Rio Tinto and large investments in the lithium mine, a significant number of smaller Australian companies are interested in cooperation and investment in the mining sector in Serbia. Also, given the extensive experience in this field, we are ready to offer our knowledge and expertise to Serbian companies operating in mining. Australian companies are known around the world for new technologies and innovative approaches and services. We will be very happy to support your announcements for the introduction of e-mining, said Stewart.
The Deputy Prime Minister pointed out that the mining and energy sectors are of great importance for the development of Serbia and that they can contribute much more to the country's economic growth.
The Ministry is open to any cooperation and support for new investors. There are great challenges ahead of us, but also potential for even more successful cooperation. As you know, we will start the reform of this sector, primarily through the introduction of e-mining and e-energy, and the precondition for that is the amendment of several important laws in this area. We want to organise our business operations and create a favourable climate for new investments, said Mihajlovic.
