Solidarity with USA in preserving common values, memories

Belgrade, 11 September 2020

First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Ivica Dacic stated today that Serbia makes part of global efforts in the fight against terrorism, especially bearing in mind that this threat aims at harming and destroying the way of life of our civilisation which is based on positive values.

Speaking at a conference “We remember and stand by the USA”, organised by the Congress of the Serbian-American Friendship, Dacic underlined that 11 September was one of the “defining dates” in modern history.

Today’s observance is part of the efforts to keep the culture of remembering tragic events, which is also our joint contribution to a responsible attitude towards the future.

If anyone understands well the importance of keeping the culture of remembering and solidarity and the importance that the American people attaches to this date, it is us, the Serbian Foreign Minister underlined.

Our country, just as it has done throughout its history, today too confirms its solidarity with the USA in this fight for the preservation of common values and memories, as the only way to avert a new 11 September.

He said that we welcome the intention of the USA to increase its presence in the region, both economically and politically, especially bearing in mind that we all strive towards the same goal – keeping peace and building more prosperous Western Balkans that would be more attractive for life.
