First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Ivica Dacic stated today, on the eve of a meeting between representatives of Belgrade and Pristina in the White House, that Serbia is for agreement and negotiations, but not for ultimatums.
Dacic said in a statement to Radio Television of Serbia that whether this meeting will be a huge step forward or a debacle depends on the expectations of each side.
He said that during the preparation for the meeting, the topics discussed were the shaping of the economic framework, that is, infrastructure and the establishment of a free movement of goods, people and capital, but added that surprises are possible.
If someone thinks they will exert pressure on our country through a hidden agenda, I am sure that if that happens Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic will respond in a way that represents the best state and national interest, Dacic underlined and stated that the issue of Kosovo-Metohija can be solved only through compromise.
The First Deputy Prime Minister noted that before, the point of the meetings in Washington was not to hold a dialogue, but to make Serbia recognise Kosovo, but now the point is to find a compromise.
