Belgrade Metro largest infrastructure project in this part of Europe

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure Zorana Mihajlovic attended today the signing of an agreement for the elaboration of technical documentation for the constrution of the Belgrade Metro between the City of Belgrade, Public Utility Company “Belgrade Metro” and company Egis.

Mihajlovic said that with this commercial contract we realise a donation of the French government and start the realisation of the largest infrastructure investment in this part of Europe worth €6 billion.

The feasibility study will be ready in a year and a half, when the construction of a 60-kilometre long metro, with 60 stops, will start.

According to her, the Belgrade Metro is one of the most demanding projects we are undertaking and it would not be possible if it were not for good relations between Serbia and France.

French Ambassador to Serbia Jean-Louis Falconi said that the Belgrade Metro is an example of good cooperation and strong relations of the two countries and underlined that the French government will continue to provide financial, technical and political support to Serbia.

French and Serbian experts will make a team that will realise this investment, with a huge support from the Serbian government and the City of Belgrade, the Ambassador explained.

CEO of Egis Rail Olivier Bouvart said that his company is strongly committed to a successful realisation of the Belgrade Metro project.
