Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Trade, Tourism and Telecommunications Rasim Ljajic today opened the 42nd International Tourism Fair, where 900 exhibitors from more than 40 countries will present their tourist offer.
Ljajic emphasised that this four-day event, which is held under the slogan "Hit the Road", will be an opportunity for new business deals, talks and expansion of tourism cooperation.
He pointed out that 2019 hit the records when it comes to tourism, while this year is a year of reforms and new investments in tourism in Serbia, as systematic work will be done to coordinate different sectors.
The opening ceremony of the fair featured a short film about Belgrade as a tourist destination.
Belgrade Mayor Zoran Radojicic pointing out that the capital of Serbia records a steady increase in the number of tourists, which was 8-9% higher than last year compared to 2018.
Egypt's Deputy Minister of Tourism and Antiquities Ghada Shalaby spoke about the good cooperation between Serbia and Egypt, assessing this as a good opportunity to further enhance bilateral relations.
The strong ties between Serbia and Egypt will be strengthened more in the years to come, especially when it comes to tourism cooperation because Egypt has been an important tourist destination for Serbian guests for years and vice versa.
Approximately 700 exhibitors will be presented within the fair, while the remaining 200 will be presented as part of the Wine Fair, the Hotel and Catering Equipment Fair and the Souvenir Fair.
