Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior Nebojsa Stefanovic announced today that our country will certainly not be a bottleneck in which migrants will be unable to enter one of the EU countries.
Speaking to Hungarian Interior Minister Sandor Pinter after visiting the Horgos border crossing, Stefanovic said that the Interior Ministry is strengthening its border police capacities precisely to prevent irregular migrants from entering our country.
Establishing tight controls at our borders and seriously improving the capacity of border police to combat all forms of crime, not just irregular migration, are one of our absolute priorities, Stefanovic said.
He emphasised that Serbia appreciates the support that Hungary provides to our country on the path of European integration and in reaching the high standards that the Ministry of the Interior must have in this process.
Pinter stressed the excellent cooperation between the Serbian and Hungarian police and recalled that 20 Hungarian police officers since January this year have been assisting Serbian counterparts in combating irregular migration at the Macedonian-Serbian border.
