Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Trade, Tourism and Telecommunications Rasim Ljajic attended the opening of the Chinese New Year's Fair on Kalemegdan today, which is one in a series of events that will mark the Chinese New Year in Serbia.
Ljajic emphasised the government of Serbia and the Embassy of the People's Republic of China this year are organising a celebration of this great Chinese holiday from 17 January to 16 February in Belgrade and Novi Sad.
He said this was another confirmation of the best possible relations between Serbia and China, both politically and economically. China is the country with the highest number of investments, and Chinese tourists are the first in terms of arrivals to Serbia, with more than 150,000 last year alone, with 300,000 overnight stays.
Ambassador of the People's Republic of China to Serbia Chen Bo explained that this holiday has a history of 4,000 years and it is a custom to visit New Year's fairs during it.
She stated that for the first time, folk artists from Shantou Province will show the people of Belgrade their customs.
